How long until speaking became your full time profession?A .One of the best decisions I made was to view professional speaking as a long-term goal. Here was the dilemma. I loved my hairstyling business and was two years into a ten-year lease. My goal was to remain a hairstylist until age forty and then become a professional speaker. I started hairstyling when I was fifteen, so by forty, I figured I would have spent twenty-five years behind a chair. As it turned out, I “retired” at thirty-nine because I became President of the National Speakers Association—the first woman to achieve this prestigious position. Since the presidency took so much time, it turned into the perfect transition. My motto became, “I used to work on the outside of people’s heads. Now I work on the inside!”Q. Are you doing speeches now, or are you just coaching?A. I delivered the keynote speech for a sales organization, and afterwards the national sales manager said, “Patricia, I liked your speech, but even more, I loved how you delivered it! Can you teach our sales people how to speak with your energy and persuasiveness? It will take our company a year to get into a position to give hour-long presentations to a hospital board. When we get the business, it will be worth nine million dollars a year for our company. Right now we are losing business, and it has nothing to do with our product or offerings or price; it has to do with our competitors having better presentation skills than we do.”Today, a good part of my work is teaching and coaching sales presentation skills to sales teams. Also, many of my clients hire me to help create and dynamically deliver the keynote speeches of executives. In other words, they give the money they would give a celebrity speaker to help perfect their skills. When the keynote business is way down, my business goes up.With sales teams, my promise to my clients I cannot tell you how to get in front of your clients, but I absolutely one hundred percent guarantee that when you are in front of them, your presentation will be more powerful, professional, persuasive, polished, and more personable than your competition’s. The team I recently helped was working toward a $750,000 sale. Do you see how easy it is to justify my fee?We have made it easy for you to find a PDF Ebooks without any digging.
