Este libro está en inglés y español en páginas opuestas.ENGLISH:This little sketch of the life of Don Vasco de Quiroga (1470-1565) is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Miguel Bernal Jiménez, Late Dean of the School of Music of Loyola university, New Orleans, Louisiana, whose untimely death occurred in July 1956.The eminent Mexican musician, native of Morelia, Michoacán, was a great admirer of Don Vasco de Quiroga, in whose honor he composed a symphonic drama entitled “Tata Vasco.“ One day, as he expressed the wish that his hero might be made known to English readers, the author of this sketch promised, rashly no doubt, considering his inexperience, that he would make the attempt. If he succeeds in awakening the readers interest it will be due entirely to the extraordinary character of Don Vasco, a civil judge, who in his 68th year, becomes a priest and a bishop, and lives to the ripe old age of 95, after having established the Church on a solid foundation in his diocese of Michoacán.This study forms part of a project made possible through a grant an aid of the Carnegie foundation and Loyola university.ESPAÑOL:Dedico este breve diseño de la vida de don Vasco de Quiroga (1470-1565) a la memoria del Dr. Miguel Bernal Jiménez director que fue de la Escuela de Música de la Universidad de Loyola, Nuevo Orleans, Luisiana, Estados Unidos, prematuramente fallecido en julio de 1956.El eminente músico mexicano nacido en Morelia, Michoacán, fue un gran admirador de don Vasco de Quiroga, en cuyo honor compuso un drama sinfónica titulado “Tata Vasco.” En cierta ocasión expreso del deseo de qué su héroe fuese conocido por los lectores de habla inglesa y el autor de este diseño prometió, no sin algún atrevimiento, dada su inexperiencia, que haría la posible por que esto fuera una realidad.
