Yaugandharayana and Rumanvat were the two ministers of the Kingdom of Vatsa meet to discuss the progress of the Kingdom under the rule of their King Udayana. They were unhappy, as their King did not personally involve himself in the growth and development of their Kingdom. Instead, Udayana squandered his days with his beloved Vasavadatta in personal pleasures.Observant of their King’s behavior his Prime Minister Yaugandharayana, his General Rumanvat, and other ministers concluded the King’s actions were detrimental to the wellbeing of the country. They devised a strategy and determined to go to Lasya together with Queen Vasavadatta. What transpires is the body of the story that compelled the King of Vatsa to marry Princess Padmavati. Is this alliance a political compulsion or love at first sight? Sivkishen Ji explored the ‘Pearls of Practical Wisdom’ via the Amazing Stories of Kathamukha with a completely new dimension throughout the various time planes of stories. Sivkishen Ji ensured the transmission of ancient folk culture and tradition from one generation to the other ~ rooted in the archives of ancient literature, Katha Sarit Sagara from which they originate. The Amazing Stories in these series are full of cultural values, moral ethics, tradition, and symbolism (in many cases “written between the lines”) ~ Lasya is a must-read for all ages to enlighten and sharpen the keen mindsets of current and next generations. This work is the result of painstakingly spent countless hours carefully reviewing and editing with informational footnotes and the author’s notes appear for global readers’ reference as the complex tales speak of specific customs, traditions, supernatural entities, legends, ancient locations, etc. Readers will experience various planes of reality or “time planes” within these tales narrated by Lord Shiva to Goddess Parvati.I offer my sincere Dhanyavad to Sivkishen Ji for the opportunity to contribute to this devotional work. ~ Jocelyn C.
