Though Americans regained the right to own gold in 1976, the Federal government has a significant claim against the value of the hidden gold. Because of this, the repository remains one of Seattle’s most closely held secrets through the subsequent decades. What the ‘Families’ don’t realize is that Wendy inherited a set of keys to the former bank vault, and is determined to remove the all the gold, not just what rightfully belonged to Elzie. Unknown to her, their endeavor has been discovered by Matthew “Matt” Lowenson and his friend, Seattle Detective Alex Jolley. Matt is one of the Marked, the most recent of an ancient cadre of individuals who are ‘blessed’ with an erratic knowledge of the future. With help from his mentors Land Bennett and Julia Simpson, as well as Detective Jolley, Matt is able to tread the fine line between credibility and keeping the secret of the Marked.
