In wishing to introduce the many advantages of our 'graded' secular schools into Scripture teaching, he was embarrassed by the lack of books prepared for the purpose. The graduated course seemed entirely practicable. In the absence of every thing to guide teachers in such a school, he has attempted this present series. The full plan of lessons includes a graduated course from the Lord's Prayer to the Evidences of Christianity. This "Five Years' Course of Graduated Sunday-school Lessons" occupies the middle or memorizing department. The oral instruction of the Infant Class comes before it: the topical lessons of the Bible Class follow it. In this plan, the Lord's Prayer, the Ten Commandments, the Beatitudes, the twenty-third Psalm, the familiar stories of the Old Testament, and some of the simpler parables are made the substance of lessons for the Infant department. This Primary Year assumes, therefore, that the child has already gained, in the Infant department or at home, some ready knowledge of those great rudiments. He is now able to commit verses to memory and enters the Sunday-school department, in which exact memorizing is made a leading feature. And hence this primary year and the four following years are designed to help secure a clear and permanent knowledge of the Scriptures, by adapting the selections, the length of lessons, and the questions to the growing power of the child's mind.We have made it easy for you to find a PDF Ebooks without any digging.
