Description:Roo’s Day At The Zoo is the first offering from Finnan Johns’ Tall Tales, A Series of Short Books for Children of All Ages. The book introduces us to the imaginary rural community of Littlewood and some of the more colorful characters that live there, including Roo, a rooster who imagines himself a bald eagle for the sake of his young friend Jeremy Terwilliger. A BRIEF SAMPLE OF “ROO’S DAY AT THE ZOO”: Chapter Three The Truth About Chickens As anyone who has spent any time whatsoever on or around a chicken farm, especially an imaginary chicken farm anywhere in the imaginary rural area surrounding Westlake can tell you, chickens, especially literary chickens, are VORACIOUS readers. Given the opportunity, a chicken will, in fact MUST read anything that is placed before it. (If you don’t believe me, just set THIS book in front of one of YOUR chickens and watch what happens.) There are only three reasons why chickens are not constantly found reading and they are as follows: 1) Books are very heavy to chickens, and hard to carry. 2) It is very difficult for chickens to turn the pages, AND, 3) Wise human beings very seldom give their books to chickens, due to the first two reasons. So... when presented with the opportunity to read the words written on the small scrap of paper just outside the chicken coop’s gate, Roo could hardly resist. He carefully eased through the gap between the gate and the fence so as not to open it too wide, and cautiously approached the small scrap of paper to have a look. “Tuesday, April 14th” the paper said. “Admit One” it said. “Westlake Zoo, just up the road from Jeremy’s house” it said. Roo was thrilled to read the words on the small scrap of paper. He was very pleased that they were written on something small enough for him to carry. Something that he could easily pick up. Something that he could tuck gently under his wing and keep with him. “Westlake Zoo, just up the road from Jeremy’s house.” The words formed complex thoughts in Roo’s head. “Tuesday, April 14th,” that’s today! “Admit One.” Roo began to realize that this was a ticket, the bearer of which could gain entrance to the Westlake Zoo, just up the road from Jeremy’s house. Just up the road from HIS house. A Zoo! “Certainly,” Roo though, “there must be at least one Majestic Bald Eagle in a place like the Westlake Zoo!” A plan began to form in Roo’s mind for a grand adventure. We have made it easy for you to find a PDF Ebooks without any digging.
