This is his memoir of the representative from Oklahoma to the National Teacher of the Year contest in 1971. He was born in the year Oklahoma first became a state. His father came to Oklahoma during the land rush, but did not stay then moved to Oklahoma later and bought up some of the homesteaders. There are some unique stories. During a move from one homestead to another, his sister disappeared. The county sent people out into the blackjacks to find her and could not. After the move was completed, the sister turned up at the edge of the clearing with a pack of wolves. The wolves left as soon as people saw her there. How about moving a house with mules and no road?
