Sparks Mountain: An Appalachian Ghost Story

Dan McNeil
4.9/5 (21035 ratings)
Description:In his final semester of college, Tom Sparks receives a letter from his aunt two thousand miles away saying his estranged father, Sam Sparks, is in failing health and having delusions. Living a hermit-like existence on the family farm for the last twenty years, Sam claims to see ghosts, something his sister interprets as dementia. After graduation Tom flies to North Carolina to see the situation first hand. He tricks his father into seeing a doctor and later moves him into a rest home. Tom's uncle, who owns the farm, sells it to a land developer. With his journalism degree in hand, Tom begins to canvass the state in search of a reporting job. He meets and falls in love with a local girl, which causes him to focus his job search closer to Sparks Mountain. He is allowed to stay in the old house in the meantime, rent free. One night he hears a woman's voice. While in bed, he sees her apparition, paralyzing him in terror. Tom now thinks his father is not delusional after all .Bulldozers uncover a decomposed body on Sparks Mountain. The corpse is identified as belonging to Sally Greene, a teenage live-in maid for the Sparks family, apparently murdered almost a half century ago. An overzealous detective convinces himself Sam Sparks is the prime suspect. Sam declares the ghost is that of Sally Greene. Is the ghost merely a projection of Sam's guilty conscience? If so, why does Tom and his girlfriend experience the same paranormal phenomenon? Tom has to set aside old resentments to defend his father from an unjust charge as he learns the shocking truth about who actually killed Sally Greene. We have made it easy for you to find a PDF Ebooks without any digging.
