Blood Sweat & Tears: A ride through hell for love... and life

Rick Weaver
4.9/5 (31822 ratings)
Description:War. Billy Straw, a God-fearing man, lost his soul, if not his life. Defending innocent civilians, he was forced to kill his superior officer. Court martialed, imprisoned for manslaughter, he finally returned home. Morally adrift, he’s befriended by Dux and Lonnie Bradshaw, brothers and petty criminals. The trio commits a series of major thefts and are pursued by federal agents. Too late, Billy realizes his mistake. Dux and Lonnie double-cross Billy, shoot him and leave him for dead. Surgeons save Billy’s life, only so he can be tried and convicted of the crimes and imprisoned. Blood, Sweat & Tears (November 1972) Billy’s midnight escape from the prison hospital ward sets him on a course of revenge. He finds the gang’s Indiana woodlands hideout. He’s shocked to see many blackened corpses in the charred remains of a semi-trailer truck, embers still aglow. Armed and outraged, Billy bursts in on Dux and Celia, a Latina accomplice. They attack, plunging a hypodermic needle into Billy. Woozy from the injection, he’s beaten until he blacks-out. Miles away, Wes Harrison and his wife, Carolyn, make love. He’s trying to sort out a flagging career and a failing marriage. The phone rings incessantly. Wes answers. It’s his partner, Agent Jim Dobbs. The men are investigators with the Interagency Tactical Force (ITF). Jim says Billy Straw escaped prison and is holed-up in a farmhouse. Wes dresses, arms himself and hurriedly leaves home and Carolyn, angry and frustrated. Billy awakes in the farmhouse, badly bruised, slashed but mobile. He finds a mortally wounded Miguel Cortes, a Mexican farm labor contractor. Dux and Celia double-crossed Miguel, shot him, stole the payroll and burned the migrants in the truck. Miguel hands Billy a bloody crucifix and photo of a young Latina holding a baby. In his dying breath, he asks Billy to take the crucifix to his family. Billy realizes he’ll be blamed for the mass killings, and this time, he’ll get the death penalty. Billy bolts for his stolen car to escape. On recon, Wes and Jim cautiously drive the winding lane toward the farmhouse. They are surprised to see Billy Straw driving out. The agents fire at Billy. Bullets puncture Billy’s windshield but he manages to maneuver his car and escape. A fugitive, he’s got no family or friends to help him. Billy breaks into his boyhood church. He exchanges the prison uniform for clean clothes and then steals the collection. He muses that he’s got only a nickel’s worth of soul left. Pre-dawn at the farmhouse crime scene finds Jim Dobbs being driven to hospital for treatment of injuries received in the encounter with Billy Straw. Wes is reprimanded and put on administrative leave pending an internal investigation. Wes arrives home to discover that Carolyn’s left him. He leaves to pursue Straw and Bradshaw, unauthorized and alone. March 1973 In a California cantina, Billy abducts a young Latina. He’s absolutely certain she’s the same woman who attacked him in the farmhouse—and he’ll get the damned truth out of her. On a secluded farm lane, the terrified Latina trembles before Billy’s gun. The bright beam of his motorcycle headlamp reveals that astonishing truth. It impels him relentlessly ahead in conflict with the pursuing ITF agents, Bradshaw’s ruthless gang, and inevitably, Dux himself. Fingerposts point to a chaotic journey of men and women desperate for revenge, power, money and love. It is this love that empowers one desperado and immigrant woman to unloosen their shackles, transforming their lives forever? We have made it easy for you to find a PDF Ebooks without any digging.
