The present edition includes a foreword by Terence O'Brien and essays by James Connolly (1910) and Cormac O Grada (1974).The Ralahine experiment was a cooperative farming system inspired by the ideas of Robert Owen on the lands of Arthur Vandeleur. Edward T. Craig, the author, was engaged by Vandeleur to come from England to start the experiment.
