Description:Excerpt from Tests of Instruments for the Determination, Indication, or Recording of the Specific Gravities of GasesIn order to avoid variations of possible importance during testing and to determine the effects of both temperature and humidity on the specific-gravity measurements, the laboratory was air conditioned. In order to place the results obtained over an extended period of time on a common basis, all the instruments were tested at 25 C (77 F) and those affected by the water content of the laboratory air were tested with the air containing percent of water vapor, correspond ing to a relative humidity of 35 percent at 77 F. Other tempera tures and humidities were employed when some of the test gases were used to establish the effect of the changes.
