Description:Henry Festing Jones (1851-1928) was the friend and posthumous biographer of Samuel Butler. His biography of Butler, entitled Samuel Butler, Author of Erewhon (1835-1902) - A Memoir, (1919) won the inaugural James Tait Black Memorial Prize for biography in 1919. His other works include: Diversions in Sicily (1920), Samuel Butler: A Sketch (1921) and The Samuel Butler Collection at Saint John's College Cambridge (with A. T. Bartholomew) (1921). Augustus Theodore (Theo) Bartholomew (1882-1933) was a bibliographer and a librarian at Cambridge University for over twenty-five years. At the age of 17, he found a job as "Second-Class Assistant" at the University Library at Cambridge, earning 10 shilings a week. In 1901 he was able to enter Peterhouse, Cambridge, as an undergraduate, graduating in 1904. After graduation, the library remained the focus of his life.
